NYG&B Labs: The Record Map Search (Beta)

Welcome to The Record Map Search - a product of NYG&B Labs. This new tool allows you to search an index of articles in The Record and view the New York State locations related to the results returned by your search.

To learn more, visit our help page. You will find in-depth instructions on using the tool (including a video tutorial), more information about the project, and a place to leave feedback. This project is currently in beta form, which means there may be minor bugs or features that can be improved. Please make sure to send us your feedback!

How to use this tool

  1. Enter a name, location, or keyword into the search field of your choice - this search will query an index of articles in The Record
  2. Look on the map to see which New York State locations are represented by the articles that matched your search term.
  3. Look at the table below the map to see all search results that matched your query.
  4. To narrow down your search results by location, return to the map and click on a location pin. Then click "view results" - now only results related to that location will be displayed underneath the map.
  5. To search again, click "reset" to clear all pins from the map.
